For starters, once a year, vacuum out the area around the furnace’s blower. If possible, also slide out the fan unit, clean each fan blade with a toothbrush, and then vacuum with a brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner. While you’re at it, look for oil ports on the motor, normally located near the motor shaft. If the motor has these, apply two to three drops of non-detergent motor oil into each port (you may have to remove a cover plate to do this). Though most contemporary motors don’t require lubrication, do lubricate motors with oil ports once a year. For more about maintenance, see Maintenance Checklist for Central Heating Systems.
If those steps don't work, call a heating contractor. Despite the improved efficiency of most new furnaces, it's generally more cost-effective to repair a furnace than to replace it. However, if a key component such as the heat exchanger or control module fails, you're probably better off replacing the furnace, especially if the unit is more than about 15 years old. Furnaces typically last an average of 15 to 18 years.

Jeremi came out and serviced our air conditioner, checked our furnace, replaced our filter, set our thermostat and cleaned our alot of cottonwood out or our air conditioner on the side of our house. He was a great technician and did and great job. after he adjusted everything and cleaned out the vents in the air conditioner outside the house was cooler than it was. He is a nice man and very personable. Both my wife and I were very happy and satisfied with his work. the service was done on Thursday, July 21st, 2016
CM Heating performed a Gas Furnace Diagnostic. Customer wanted his echo bee thermastat installed that he had bought himself. Furnace was working fine just wanted his thermastat installed. He thought that the $99 service fee was going to cover that but explained to him what the service fee was for, and explained that there is a additional install fee for the stat. Customer didn’t want to pay the additional fee so I called the office had them listen to the call to make sure we explained to the customer correctly and to see how they would like me to proceed. So I quoted the customer the fee to install the thermostat but he didn’t want us to install it so I left.
I can't say enough about Hassan. He is a heart of gold and we love his outlook on taking care of customers. He's honest and knows exactly what he is doing, not pretending and just pulling things apart going back and forth puzzled. He even wanted to check our unit in the attic to make sure it was safe. He puts his customers first! It was late but he still drove an hour to fix our furnace. My wife felt completely safe with him and loved him! So if you are a single woman out there, no worries. Hassan is safe to hire. 👌🏾Very good spirited guy who wants you to see your AC issues and give you options and why, with honesty! We had him to add a safety switch to our attic furnace to prevent a flood of our home in the event it has a leak issue. He put one on our basement attic that never was even an option. We are completely satisfied with his company and will be our main man now! He's a serious blessing to have. Thank you! Thank you!
Drilon and Jeremy came out to the house for snaking the sewage line and performing an AC tune up. They were very informative, kind, respectful and professional. Drilon went above and beyond by giving me a whole walk through on our furnace, AC unit and water heater and giving suggestions and prioritizing what he thought would be the most important and safe for our new house right now. They were not pushy with their sales tactics and I will definitely be using them when we are ready to replace our features.

If your furnace needs to be repaired, you’ll want to find a qualified heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) repair technician. Each state has its own licensing requirements; some require all HVAC technicians to have an HVAC license, while others only require someone operating an HVAC service and installation company with employees to hold a contractor’s license. For example, in Alabama, the Alabama Board of Heating Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Contractors regulates licensing, while in Kansas there is no state regulatory body and HVAC licensing can vary by region. For simple furnace repairs like changing out a filter, a trusted handyman can probably handle the job, but a trained professional should be hired for tasks like replacing a gas valve, installing a new inducer fan motor or other critical furnace repair jobs that involve dealing with gas leaks or other dangerous conditions. Walter was stupendous! He installed a new high-efficiency central air and furnace in my house. His master craftsmanship (artistry) and customer service are in a class of their own. From removing the old unit to all of the finishing touches, testing and review of operating the system, every detail was done in excess of what I could have imagine and I'm a Building Inspector. It was a very pleasant experience for me with only good surprises.
