Gas is currently the most common heating fuel and most new central-heating systems use gas. How efficiently a furnace converts gas into heating energy is reflected in its annual fuel-utilization-efficiency (AFUE) rating, which is measured as a percentage. The higher the number, the more heat the furnace can wring from each therm of gas. Since efficient furnaces generate fewer emissions, environmental considerations might also influence your decision.
Hello, We have a Hunter ceiling fan that no longer spins. It has power, as the light still works and when you push the remote you hear the clicking, like it's trying to engage, but the blades do not spin. Does this sound like a possible flywheel issue? I removed the Remote Receiver, part 85112-02, and apparently it's no longer available, but I don't think the receive is the problem. Any feedback would be welcome.
Next check and clean the furnace’s flame sensor. The video below shows you how—note that this guy fixes it in about 5 minutes. We would probably use a little bit of emory paper, but he cleans the sensor with a 5-dollar bill. Another video further down the page under the discussion of “If your furnace keeps shutting off after about 5 minutes” shows the same project with a different brand of furnace.

Whether you have an electric or gas furnace, you shouldn’t have to suffer when your heater is not working. At Sears Home Services, our technicians fix many of the top furnace manufacturers. The issues you may face with your furnace can vary depending on the type of heating system. If you own an electric model and it isn’t working, some of the potential causes include:
Among the leading ways to prevent a breakdown and make sure it runs like a lean machine is with yearly scheduled tune-ups on your furnace. Just like any mechanical equipment, the useful life of a furnace will be enhanced with preventive maintenance, by ensuring that all the elements of the unit are running efficiently. In addition, regular cleanings can help pinpoint concerns before they become big problems and you end up paying emergency rates on a cold winter night. Plus, because furnaces burn fuel to make it hot, it’s important to inspect all the various pieces to ensure there aren’t any ruptures or leaks that could impact the safety of your family. Taking the time to schedule a tune-up, even when it’s not making that odd rattling noise you’ve been ignoring, will save you time, stress, and money throughout the heating season.

Jeff did an all right job. He had all the right answers to make the company and the previous Gary and his helper look good. Unfortunately, the problem I'm having is my own problem. The companies 2 year warranty is only good if everything is okay on the first visit. First visit was very long, expensive. The mechanism for Flushing acted up about a month later and so they had to come back and it was Gary and his helper and Gary rebuilt the mechanism. A month later they acted up again and then Jeff came out. And that's when everything in my house is wrong and it would cost me close to $1,000 to have them straighten it up so that my toilet would flush right. I've been in my house for 50 years and I've never had this problem before. I don't know if it's because of the equipment that's being put in. So the two star rating is not so much against Jeff as it is against the company and their policies. First time I have used by others and it will be the last. And my recommendation to anyone would be don't don't hire Brothers.
Cleaning the debris that builds up on your filters will aid with the flow of air. When your air filter is clogged, your air handler must work harder to compensate for the blockage of air flow. In addition to driving up your utility bill, the reduced air flow through your heating and cooling system can cause your heat exchanger to overheat and shut off too quickly.
