If your furnace’s motor runs but the blower doesn’t move air, the belt that connects the two probably has broken. Replacing it is an easy fix. First, turn off all power to the unit and turn off the gas at the gas valve that serves the furnace. Remove the door on the front of the furnace cabinet to give you access to the blower (it might be on a slide-out drawer.) Check the number stamped on the belt and get an exact replacement from a home center or heating supply outlet.
We also offer HVAC accessories such as built-in humidifiers, air filtration systems and programmable thermostats to make your home more comfortable. Sears HVAC installation experts are licensed, bonded and insured, and they follow all local and regional codes and regulations. Sears offers a Price Match Guarantee to make sure you get the best deal. We guarantee your satisfaction, and provide a product warranty and manufacturer-backed installation warranty—it’s service you can count on for years to come.
If you have an older furnace with a standing pilot light, it’s possible that the pilot light has been extinguished. First, confirm that the light is out. Then, turn the gas valve to the off position and wait five minutes. If there is a reset button on your furnace, turn the valve to the pilot position and hold a flame to the dedicated pilot opening while pushing the button for about 30 seconds. (If the pilot doesn’t light on the first attempt, wait a few minutes and repeat the procedure, this time depressing the reset button for 45-60 seconds.) Once the pilot is lit, turn the gas valve back to the on position. If the pilot light won’t stay lit, it’s possible that there is an issue with the thermocouple or ignition system. Call an HVAC professional for assistance.

If your furnace has a pilot light, look for the flame. Check your owner’s manual or the instructions posted inside the furnace cabinet for step-by-step lighting instructions. Usually this involves first turning the gas valve to Off and waiting a couple of minutes. Then you turn it to Pilot. Next, press and hold it down while you light the flame. Last, wait a minute or so, release it, and then turn it to On.

Most manufacturers’ warranties call for annual equipment maintenance to stay valid, so missing your tune-ups can possibly result in losing your heating or AC system warranty, which can be major money if your equipment does ever stop working in the middle of a cold snap. Make sure you get all you can from your warranty by making sure it stays valid as long as possible with annual furnace system tune-ups from Service Experts.
I had a minor crisis at my home with a backed up sewer drain in the basement and me just home from a freak accident where I broke both arms! Spencer narrowed down the problem and called his coworker who had the equipment to snake my drain and stayed to clean up until the issue was resolved. He was courteous and careful to make sure my carpet didn't get marked up and cleaned up well. I am so grateful for him being willing to go the extra mile to help me out!
